For our team at Brimington Dental Practice, preventive dentistry is at the core of all our dental health provisions. Practising preventative dentistry means we promote and protect our patient’s long-term oral health, in order to ensure their teeth, mouth, and gums are healthy and strong well into the future. Preventive dentistry also helps to minimise the need for intervention treatments and aims to maintain the patient’s natural teeth wherever possible.
From a practical point of view, preventative dentistry requires the dentist, patient, and dental hygienist to work together. With frequent dental check-ups, yearly hygiene appointments, and proper at-home oral care, preventative dentistry can help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and all sorts of other oral health issues.
If you’re uncertain of how to properly take care of your oral health at home, our team are always on hand to answer questions. Your dental hygienist will have recommendations and be able to build a plan that works with you during a hygiene appointment, but we always recommend brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day and flossing regularly.
