Receding gums are one of the main causes of sensitivity. This is because they expose the root of the tooth, which, without the protection of the gums becomes highly sensitive especially when eating or drinking cold or hot food and drinks. With plastic surgery, we can return the gums to their original state by grafting soft tissue to the affected areas.
In this treatment, soft tissue is taken from other areas of the mouth including the palate and grafted onto the areas where the gum has receded. In this way, we’ll be able to cover up the exposed root or roots, leaving them protected once more and reducing any extra sensitivity.
