Dr Akbar is our principal dentist, he took over Brimington Dental Practice in November 2018.
He completed his BDS in 2004 from the prestigious ‘Baqai Medical and Dental University’ in Pakistan and gained further experience from attachments in hospitals and private clinics. After a few years of valuable experience, he established his own successful private practice. His love for dentistry and an appetite for further development meant that In 2009, Dr Akbar moved to the UK after completing his IQEs (International qualifying exams) and has been in the UK ever since.
Dr Akbar’s zest for further knowledge resulted in his taking on a four year master’s program in prosthodontics from Kings’ College London. The successful completion of his master’s (MSc) then led to a double master’s degree, MclinDent FRP KCL( Master of Clinical Dentistry fixed and removable prosthodontics).
Dr Akbar is passionate about full-mouth oral rehab cases and has been providing smile makeovers for many years.
His knowledge of dental ceramics and occlusion has given him the edge in creating the most attractive and functional smiles custom-designed for the individual case.
Furthermore, he has undergone many years of formal training from all over the world in surgical dental implantology, including two years of advanced training from the Royal College of Surgeons England.
Dr Akbar is passionate about minimally invasive dentistry, and by combining the latest digital techniques, it is now possible for him to perform guided implant surgery with minimal trauma and post-operative discomfort.
Dr Akbar has also been accepting endodontic (root canals) and prosthetics (cosmetic dentures, including the BPS) referrals for many years.
As a practice owner, Dr Akbar has a strong work ethic and always puts the patient’s interest first. He believes in evidence-based dentistry and strives to treat patients based on the most current and justified approach.
Outside the practice, Dr Akbar enjoys oil painting and spending time with his two adorable children.
